SELECTIONS FOR THIS MEETING 19
SELECTIONS RUNNING IN THE FIRST FOUR POSITIONS 16
Course: Waterlea Race-way Blenheim
Surface: All weather
If you think we were light on the Oamaru selections yesterday (we did a nice enough job with what we did select) then you'll be buoyed by the fact that we've had a real go today. The Dunn and Dalgety teams look to have a strangle hold on most of the races so look for those colours to greet the judge on plenty of occasions today.
Best bet
R11 #9 Kompressor
Each-way
R3 #6 Red October
R2
#10 Runaway Star. Absolute class of this field despite the draw which should be overcome early by the fact that there's only one other runner on the second row. Luckless at Motukarara but all other runs have been sound in very good fields. Solid each-way chance. 2nd $1.30
#4 American Tart. Out of a high speed mare in Redheadedwildflower. Has done her best work form the front of recent workouts so I'd imagine John will look to go forward off the arm. Is a value each-way chance but I'd like to see her hand up if reaching the lead early. 1st $1.70 1.30. Quinella $2.50
R3
#6 Red October. High speed type who had to do a little too much work last start in a quickly run affair. The draw helps as the main rival is drawn outside of him and is more of a rolling type. Has the tactical speed to win here. Strong each-way. 3rd $1.00
#9 Alpha Rock. Workouts and trials have been mixed to be honest but the latest effort did have some class about it. Has royal blood. The main threat. 1st $1.20 1.00. Quinella $4.50. Trifecta $9.60
#2 Man Of Steel. Looms as a decent place prospect here as his best form has come from on the speed and the draw supports that theory here. Combinations. 2nd $1.80
R4
#5 Cmeerock. Big bodied filly who will need to get out and rolling early in this. Decent trial efforts lately and race conditions suit. Strong each-way claims. 4th
#10 Martin John. He needs to get away to a decent start as his mobile manners haven't been all that good at times. However he is a nice type and possesses a bit of speed. Will need luck from the draw but is capable of placing today. 3rd $1.90
R6
#1 Franco Tai. Two sound runs to start off his career after looking a nice type at trials and workouts. I do question his early tactics here as I'm not entirely convinced he'll be able to lead all the way. In the mix. 1st $1.80 1.30
R7
#12 Nek Time. The class horse of this field with jewels form from last season. She's been sound in high class fields lately and although her gate-speed is negated by the draw I actually still think she can get into this race late. Small field helps. 2nd $2.00
#4 Sauchiehall. Dexter on today and didn't quit fighting both runs at Nelson. She's a little bi better than the form would suggest. Odds. 4th
R8
#13 Innocent Artist. Nice effort from parked outside the impressive McArdle Star last start and all prior runs had been very good. Again he'll have to work from this draw but I do believe he has the class to do so. 2nd $1.20
#1 Russian Express. Under-rated type who will enjoy the speed being on around this quick track. Combinations at odds. 4th
R10
#12 Bite The Bullet. Appears the class of this field. As is the case today he'll have to work hard, which to be honest has happened in most of starts. Still should be a little too classy for this field. 1st $1.80.1.20. Quiella $2.40. Trifecta $21.10
#1 Crackabella. Race conditions suit her down to the ground here and with Johnny Cox on board I'm suggesting he attempts to break their hearts from the front of the race. Don't estimate, can win. 2nd $1.40
#4 Coringa Delight. A different horse with R Todd training as opposed to W Higgs. Found the line at Addington. High speed type who is best suited for one run late. 3rd $2.60
R11
#9 Kompressor. Worked hard late in behind Buster Brady last start. That's good enough for us today. 1st 2.90 1.50
