#7 Baileys Knight. I continue to be impressed by him. His recent Rangiora workout behind Tiger Thompson had plenty of merit and he's looking the full package after being gelded. Hard to know what Gavin will do from the gate as there will be speed on early. He seems to go better near the speed though so look for an early lead bid. I've been a little under-whelmed by Mossdale Rose lately and Let It Ride would have to be very good to get around them from the wide barrier and win so I've gone with the value here. 4th

#8 Culley Backy. No luck last time out so dismiss the 6th behind the smart Ariadne Lavra. Another with good stand start manners. Value chance at decent each-way odds. 1st $6.70 2.60

#2 Tornado Valley. This horse is going good races and I don't mind his chances of filling a place at great odds. My line on him comes form the green mile at Methven where he's gone a very sound race behind Marcoola. He's had limited mobile starts but has a decent record at this track and the draw should pan out alright. Master Lavros and Harriet Of Mot have always had gait issues and Belles Son looked a little flat late last week. All of that means we're looking elsewhere and for value. 4th

#8 Tiger Thompson. A very good recent Rangiora workout has him firmly on top here. The great thing about that run was that he looked very good in his gait which has always been his Achilles heel. I can't see him beaten if he's able to get around in one piece. 1st $1.30 1.00. Quinella $1.60. Trifecta $6.50
#9 Gotta Go Ya Hu. The Marlborough victory on day two of that swing was very good from the front. He can be a little vulnerable from off the speed so may look to go forward early tonight. 2nd $1.30
#7 Wanted Man. The 3rd place two starts back was good from the front of the race so I expect S Golding to buzz the gate and look for the front initially. He's not a bad horse when at his best so must be included in the trifecta tonight. 3rd $2.10

#10 Usain Colt. Will hug the pegs throughout and if they are running along then that's the place to be. Take the current $5.00 a place on offer. He should hit the line well late. 4th

#5 Galleons Royale. Stand start exponent who did a decent job late last week at Ashburton and is recently downgraded. I don't see a lot of depth to this field so she must be respected at odds tonight. Place options preferred. 2nd $3.80 ($5.00 Fixed Place)

#5 Franco Hampton. Went some good races in Marlborough. Needs to be settled early as his gait isn't the best but there's no denying the motor. 1st $5.50 2.10
