A quality night of racing ahead of us on Friday with the two meetings running alongside each other. The Canterbury Classic and Canterbury Park trotting cup are the features tonight although there is quality elsewhere on the card also. I've found value early and then struggled to find much towards the back end of the card.

#10 Mighty Flying Major. Class horse returning after time away from the track. His stable-mate holds the cards here as he'll need to get out early from the mobile and attempt to lead early to get his chance. With speed on throughout I can see him getting out late from the pegs but if they only do pace-work up front then I think we'll be unlucky. Worth a speculative bet if the odds are there. 1st $2.50 1.30 ($4.60 fixed odds win)

#1 Destiny Jones. A sound start to her campaign when parked last start. This horse goes well over the distance and generally does things right away from the tapes. Lacks high speed though so we'd need some speed to be on. Value prospect to win this given there's a little speed in this affair. I want $9. 4th

#4 Tiger Thompson. This horse has got a big motor and looks the most progressive horse in the field. Hit the line strongly in behind You Gotta Have Faith last start. Will be a nice horse when he gets his head around the game. I'm hoping for early pressure on the #1 to come from the Dunn runner Cmeerock as we'll need early speed to be a factor late in this. If he can get a decent running line sit he'll hit the line well. Value. 1st $5.70 2.20 ($12 fixed odds win)

#8 Sunny Ruby. It's very hard to place this horse because she's a one trick pony who looks amazing one week and then fails the next. I've gone with her here because I believe this race will be run at a decent clip and that will suit her high speed late in this race. Not a bad field though and the handicaps appear pretty even. I'd like $7. 1st $8.00 2.50
