SELECTIONS FOR THIS MEETING 17
SELECTIONS RUNNING IN THE FIRST FOUR POSITIONS 13
Course: Addington
Surface: All weather
Just a super looking day in store for us on a Saturday afternoon at Addington. Arguably this is one of the biggest days in the harness racing calendar with a number of group and listed features to be run and won on today's card. Obviously the Rasmussen/ Purdon team look very hard to beat today and where I've selected their runners I've given extra insight into first four and trifecta options.
Each-way
R1 #3 My cash
Driver to follow.
A real whip fight between Dexter and Mark Purdon with Dexter only needing a bit of luck on some of his runners to win.
R1
#3 My Cash. I've always thought a bit of this filly and think she can give a great sight today when presented fresh. The Rangiora workout run behind Atchoo was strong after being hard held at the line from off the speed. Should look to go forward today. Coming out of the Barron barn I believe she'll tuned right up for this consolation. Strong each-way claims. 2nd $1.50
#5 Double Shot. The mobile form isn't much to look at but she has done things right lately and the small field helps her chances. Should be thereabouts and be the main threat today. 1st $1.50 1.00. Quinella $1.60
R2
#7 Enghien. Possible jewels favourite if he draws well so must be very hard to hold out today. Early gate-speed has him too strong in this field. 1st $1.50 1.10
R5
#7 Great Things Happen. Looking to continue his winning ways and there's no reason why he can't here. In super form and still looks well placed off the 10m in this. Strong winning chance. 2nd $1.30
#4 Le Reveur. Generally very good away from the tapes and with these high-stakes races the pegs has to be the place you get to. Strong Auckland efforts and the form at this course is also strong. Place preferred. 1st $13.50 2.60. Quinella $9.50
R8
#1 Golden Goddess. Magnificent win last time out and the way in which she won means most of this field will have a good nights sleep after this. Should be too strong from the draw. 2nd $1.10
#5 Dream About Me. Given windburn by the #1 last start when unable to stay on her back during the run home. No questioning her quality though and I do expect her to improve into this feature. The draw means she'll be a chance to cross the stable-mate but even then it'll be hard for her to keep out the Goddess. 1st $2.90 1.40. Quinella $1.80. Trifecta $12.10
#7 Piccadilly Princess. Has a very high turn-of-foot which also means she'll probably be driven back today and asked for a last run at them from a little off the pace. Great picket-fence form-line and should be respected in this. 3rd $1.40
R9
#12 Destiny Jones. Hit the line stoutly behind Monkey's Way last week and I don't mind the outside of the line draw she comes up with here. The size of the field has me worried for Le Lievre's Gift so this runner could give you a little value today. 2nd $2.00
#11 Everybody Knows. In mixed form but I think he'll appreciate the race conditions today. Generally better with one run at them so I'd be looking for a mid-race running-line sit from which to launch a potent last furlong attack. 3rd $4.00
#8 Quevert. Nice win at Oamaru but was thrown in there to win with some ease. His form has been strong and with early manners he can certainly give them all something to chase in this. 1st $4.40 1.60. Quinella $8.60. Trifecta $202.50
R10
#1 More the Bettor. The ace draw gives him the best hand in the house here although he will need to be careful not to get crossed by too many early. Big run last week form parked and to be fair this would have been the target today. Hard to hold out. 1st $1.70 1.10. Quinella $2.50
#12 Pacing Major. Did his best from off the speed last start and should be a factor today as he'll be put into the race a little earlier I'd imagine. Value. 2nd $1.60
