#5 Freedom Fighter. Looks a class above most in this race and it isn't the worst sort of field. Good trial efforts coming into this race-day appearance. May not look for the front initially as there may be a little bit of gate-speed out wide. Is best following the speed. Should have enough ability about him to feature strongly in this. 1st $1.40 1.40. Quinella $8.90
#3 Royal Jester. Going sound races in good fields and comes up with a decent draw in this. Hard to see her crossing early but is able to do things tougher this time in. Not without decent place claims. 2nd $2.40

#11 Matatoki. Nice trotter who has been very strong in recent workouts. First up would be the only real question I have but I do not doubt his talent. Looms large in this. 1st $2.30 1.70. Double $3.40
#9 Cuddly Jess. Looked unlucky at Rangiora and I've found her to be sound over the 2600m mobile in the past. Can get into this late. Doesn't look a winning chance but could provide some place value. 3rd $3.60

#5 Donegal Rundlescreek. Strong showing late at Rangiora and has options from the draw although I'd like Dexter to go forward early and run them tonight. Versatile type who looks placed to go close in this. 1st $3.10 1.60. ($3.80 Fixed win)

#16 Superfecta. Nice Rangiora workout last week and the outside of the second line should see him get away from the tapes fine. 2600m should suit thereafter. Nice animal and a leading chance. 1st $1.60 1.30. Double $4.70
