Timaru run with an abbreviated 8 race card today but there's a few we want to bet into which is nice. Some interesting races with some younger horses mixed in with battle-hardened types.

#3 JR Fulham. Led them up at Oamaru and was stung by the trail horse in a nice last 800m. The Timaru track gives him another opportunity at grabbing the lead early and attempting to dictate terms again today. 1st $3.90 1.40 ($6.00 2.00 Fixed Odds)

#10 Clifden Clowers. Well down in grade today. The stand start and how he gets away are vital here as he's a great leader or near the speed horse. Early breakers will only play into his hooves. R Close knows what he's doing. Winning claims. 1st $4.10 1.80

#2 Smarter VC. Again early manners key here for this horse who has a good standing start record overall. Looked forward enough on his Marlborough trip A competitive looking race with multiple chances but we do like him to come out on top. 1st $3.30 1.70 ($3.60 Fixed Win)
